You do not have to invest long hours working out at the gym in order to become physically fit. Here are some tips that will help you get in shape wherever you are or wherever your workouts occur.

If you find a workout regimen you find enjoyable you will be more likely to stick with it. If you are doing an activity you enjoy you will start to look forward to your work outs.

If you want to develop your muscle mass, try lifting heavier weights and doing less reps. Choose a muscle group to start with, perhaps the chest or the biceps. Use an easy to lift warm-up weight for the first set. Try doing around 15 or so reps for the warm up. Change to a heavier weight for the next set. You should only be able to do 6 to 8 repetitions at this weight. Add five pounds to the weight and the repeat this for a third set.

Be sure to choose a workout routine that you enjoy, and stick with it. An enjoyable fitness routine is something that you will find yourself looking forward to.

Set a schedule for your exercise routine in order to maintain a level of consistency and to reduce the probability of avoiding it. Plan the number of days, the times of days and the types of activity that you will participate in. If missing one workout day has to happen, make sure you put a make up date on your calendar and actually do it.

Do you want to make the most out of your exercise regime? Research has show that strength can be increased by about twenty percent if you stretch. During your routine, stretch the muscle you are working on for about 20 to 30 seconds between each set. By doing simple stretches, you can improve the quality of your workout.

You should never do extreme diets or go overboard with exercise. You will be in danger of hurting yourself, heart issues, dehydration, and you will not benefit from it.

An easy way to lose some weight is by counting calories. Knowing your calorie count helps you determine if you're going to gain weight or lose weight. When you burn off calories while exercising, and you lose more than you consume, the weight will fly off.

It is wise to wipe off any equipment at the gym you are planning to use. Someone who used the equipment before you might have had a cold, or might have left unhealthy bacteria behind. Remember, you joined the gym to improve your health, not to catch a cold.

Fitness provides you with much more than a better, healthier body. Doing regular exercise has been shown to improve mental health, as well. You will get a ‘workout high' from endorphins! When you exercise and work out, you will start to gain confidence and improve your image of yourself. This means you may be a few workouts short of happiness.

An important fitness tip is to never exercise when you are sick. Let your body heal back up at a normal pace when you become sick. Working out when sick will do more harm than good. Therefore, you should take a break from exercising until you are well. To speed your recovery, eat properly and get sufficient sleep at night.

Make sure to inhale and exhale properly when you are engaging in any physical activity. This allows more oxygen to enter your body so that you can become more functional and feel great.

It can be hard to get into shape, but also it can be fun. You can use some of the information contained in this article to increase your successes with your workout program. Look at fitness as a part of daily life that will take some effort. By adding more exercise, more often, you'll see big improvements.
